NASCAR News: Corey LaJoie Releases Statement After Shock Spire Motorsports Exit…..

Following the NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, LaJoie acknowledged his final race with the Spire Motorsports team on social media. He penned:

“The past few months have been a fascinating and unusual experience. It has been a pleasant challenge to maintain preparation and performance at a high level, as we have demonstrated over the past month, while navigating discussions regarding my future in the sport. Being a part of the ‘trade’ now provides me with clarity and inspiration to keep pushing through the challenges the sport presents.

“I hope the best of luck goes to Jeff and all of the Spire employees who have become lifelong friends. In addition to being overcomers, Rick Ware, Robby Benton, and the RWR Group are committed to growing that organization. I’m prepared to work with them and support them in achieving it. Throughout this journey, I really appreciate my devoted partners and fans’ steadfast support.”

LaJoie joined Spire Motorsports in 2021 and has since grown to be a vital member of the squad. LaJoie finished in the top ten in three of his 29 outings this year, including an incredible fourth place performance at the Daytona 500 on February 18.

In response to LaJoie’s departure, President of Spire Motorsports Jeff Dickerson said, as originally published by Newsweek Sports:

“Corey LaJoie has been a cornerstone of Spire Motorsports and we’re incredibly appreciative of all the time, effort and energy he has invested in our program,” he stated.

“Corey will be a workhorse for RWR. His perseverance and devotion to his work inspire the best in everyone around him.”

Justin Haley, who will replace LaJoie in the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, will transfer from Rick Ware Racing to Spire Motorsports as part of the driver swap. Ahead of his 2025 contract with the team, his debut with Spire Motorsports at Kansas Speedway later this month is much anticipated.

Robby Benton, President of Rick Ware Racing, also offered his thoughts on the driver switch:

“Justin Haley is an extremely skilled driver who has significantly raised RWR.

“Justin approached us during the Olympics with a long-term opportunity that would be beneficial to his career. subsequently Justin committed to RWR early in the previous year and has subsequently been instrumental in the expansion of our organization, we were understanding of his wishes.

“Neither our own nor his growth should be jeopardized. After the break, we had a conversation with Justin and decided to terminate his contract with RWR.”
