Sad News: NASCAR chaos Reveals ‘Business Issues’ Behind Losing $25 Million Deal With Denny Hamlin’s 19-Year Partner

It appears that Denny Hamlin’s challenging situation has become worse. Despite coming very close numerous times throughout his two decades of Cup Series racing, Hamlin has never taken home the victory. His admission into the top 12 this year appeared questionable prior to the Bristol race, but finishing fourth in the most recent race placed him in the clear. You must be thinking what makes his condition worse now that he is protected.

Most people are aware by now that FedEx is one of the No. 11 car’s major sponsors. JGR receives up to $25 million from them every year, and the entire car is decorated in purple, orange, and white. The brand’s insignia is shown on the doors and hood of the vehicle. The corporation chose to sponsor Denny Hamlin back in 2005, and now, 19 years later, there are rumors that they are divorcing. Despite the fact that X broke the story first, Kenny Wallace produced a thorough video on it, and this is what he had to say.

The beginning of it all came when Adam Stern announced Hamlin’s sponsorship on X. According to insiders, FedEx is poised to abandon its long-term sponsorship agreement with Joe Gibbs Racing after this season. This would put an end to one of the most successful driver-sponsor teams in NASCAR history, Stern stated in a post.

To refresh your memory, Hamlin ran seven races as a rookie driver in 2005 before he established a relationship with the sponsor. According to reports, FedEx gave JGR “just in rights fees” totaling over $25 million. Nevertheless, it started to scale back in 2021, and as of current season, FedEx has only been present for 10 seasons.

Together, JGR and the sponsor have also participated in a number of charitable endeavors, including Safe Kids Worldwide, “a nonprofit working to protect kids on the road, at home, and at play.” Additionally, the company promised in 2017 to donate $111 for every lap that Hamlin leads and $11,000 for every race win. In addition, they had promised the organization an extra $111,000 in the event that the seasoned player captured the Cup Series Championship that year.

In fact, Hamlin spoke about his sweet relationship with his longstanding sponsor after winning the 2022 Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway. They’ve stayed with me for the entirety of my career, which is really uncommon. You know, throughout the week, most people recognize my cars. In our sport of days, it’s so commonplace that nine or 10 vehicles can have completely different looks. “You never know what your car is,” Hamlin remarked, referring to his signature paint job of purple, orange, and white.

That’s why it’s shocking and sad to hear that they are splitting up. Though Joe Gibbs Racing and FedEx have not yet provided a formal response to the report, Kenny Wallace also seemed taken aback, choosing instead to release a video in which he discussed the implications for the team and the reasons behind the statement. The veteran clarified that FedEx has been making reductions ever since, so this is hardly shocking news. FedEx has not always been on Denny Hamlin’s vehicle, as you may have noticed. Wallace talked about how this may have happened after pointing out what he saw with the brand. Wallace estimated that despite the company’s strong stock performance, they would need to cut their budget by approximately $1 billion.

“I think FedEx just got business issues, and that is not Joe Gibbs’ fault,” Wallace remarked, dispelling the rumor that Joe Gibbs Racing was the team that lost a sponsor. Wallace claimed that “this is one of the best sponsor relationships ever in NASCAR history,” but he also stated that the sponsors would still have to depart even if JGR were to win every race.
